Ashley, who lives in Denver, climbs for her mom, her aunt and her grandmother who have all faced breast cancer. Since hiking and being outdoors were Ashley’s outlet for stress relief during her mom’s treatment, joining the Climb Against the Odds felt like a perfect fit, and living in Colorado gives her the perfect training ground. Ashley has an MBA and studied in Panama in a Development and Conservation program. In addition to earning a BA in Environmental Studies and Spanish, Ashley played field hockey in college, and her team won back-to-back national championships. Her passion for athletics led her to take up coaching a girls’ lacrosse team. She is a Junior Board Member of Florence Crittenton Services in Colorado, an organization that works to empower teen mothers to be productive members of the Denver community. Be on the lookout for photographic evidence of her inner dare-devil! Every time she summits a peak or visits a new place, she attempts a handstand!
“I first heard about Climb Against the Odds from a good friend who works at the Breast Cancer Fund. As I discovered more about the climb and what the Breast Cancer Fund does, the more I realized it would be the perfect event for be to participate in. Everyone has been touched in some way by this devastating disease. My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in November 2014, and has been clean for just over 1 year now! Witnessing the toll radiation took on my mom made me beyond grateful for my own personal health; and, for this reason, I am doing the Climb Against the Odds in honor of my mom – my rock and a true warrior. I am also climbing for my aunt and my grandmother who have fought breast cancer.”
Good luck Ashley! Thank you for your support of the Breast Cancer Fund’s important and lifesaving work.
